Museums (part 2)
City Island North Wind Environmental Center
Located in an old sea caption's mansion, this museum introduces children
to nature, the world of marine creatures and hands-on learning. The
setting in picturesque City Island is ideally suited to helping kids
learn about the environment and their role in its care.
Judaica Museum
The Judaica is a pioneer of museums devoted to Jewish works of art.
Its permanent collection, special exhibitions and lecture series address
Jewish themes spanning the last three centuries. Changing exhibitions
feature local artists and collections. While you're there, be sure to
take a stroll on the beautiful grounds overlooking the Hudson River.
Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler
Touring the Maritime Museum is like strolling through the history of
naval travel. The main exhibit area encompasses the history of seafaring
from the ancient Phoenicians to present day steamship and passenger
ship lines. Exhibitions include paintings, models, tools and navigational
instruments documenting progress from the earliest sailing vessels to
modern technology. The Museum is located on the beautiful, waterfront
campus of the State University of New York Maritime College.
